Rock Painting Tutorial For Beginners Hedgehog

Hello this is Annamoon with a new rock painting tutorial Today we paint a hedgehog together I cleaned the stone with a hand brush Then I applied two layers of white gesso This sketch is quite simple You draw the line where the spikes are growing And then you add the two eyes and the nose The left eye you can’t see complete So you have to draw a half circle If you make mistakes than use an eraser to remove the lines I added on my palette burnt umber titanium white hansa light yellow and carbon black To start with the hedgehog I mixed some white a bit of yellow and burnt umber for a base layer and then you can simply block in the area where the spikes are growing It is always useful to make the strokes in the direction where the spikes are growing as you can see on the picture the spikes on the back of the hedgehog are a bit lighter and the spikes on the front of the hedgehog are darker so I adjust the base layer to those tones while the paint of the spike base layer is drying I start to paint the eyes with pure carbon black If you make any mistakes you can always correct this if the paint is dry With white yellow burnt umber and a hint of black I mixed the color for the bottom of the hedgehog Just roughly block in the paint, the details you can add later If you want to see some sneak peeks of my next work you can always check out my Facebook page I added some dark strokes with a mixture of brown and carbon black The spike area and the bottom area are not divided with a straight line so I add some white strokes to make it more naturally There I paint the shadow under the hedgehog with pure black From this angle you can not see it well Now I added the nose and correct my mistakes on the eyes I am adding some highlights to the ear I paint with pure white the bottom of the hedgehog to make it look more fluffy Now I am painting with a mixture of black and burnt umber all those dark spikes that you can see Don’t paint the spikes all in one direction look at the reference photo the spikes on the back of the hedgehog are going more to the bottom Now you can see the leg of the hedgehog I am adding more details with pure white Now I am painting the white spikes Always check the reference photo on the back of the hedgehog there are more white spikes than on the front I think this piece is finished It’s time to sign and varnish it Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video Please subscribe to my channel And see you next week, ciao
