‘I Hate Staples’ Sneak Peek | Turf War (Season 13)

(dramatic music) – Welcome. Seven of you remain; three on the west, three on the midwest– – Yup. – And one on the east. – Odds against me. – In this turf war the fight to outlast your competitors is tougher than ever. – (beep) yeah it is. – Only one of you will earn $100,000, a feature in “Ink” magazine and the title of Ink Master. – That’s right. – Throughout this competition you’ve had to rely on the strength of your region to help you win crucial advantages. – Yup. – But for this flash challenge you must fight your own battle. (groaning) – Every man for himself. – This week we are testing precision. – Ah. – Precision in art,
it’s basically accuracy. Say you’re drawing a wolf,
if you don’t have precision it could just be a dog or anything else with a long snout, then it’s wrong. – This is gonna be a good one. – Today you must create a design using a very tiny medium. – Couldn’t be smaller
than pieces of candy. – I know, right, didn’t
we do buttons already? – Staples. – What? – What? – I hate staples. Staples are meant for
holding paper together. They’re not meant for art. – To make an incredible design that can be seen from across the room you must place thousands
upon thousands of staples with painstaking precision. – Gotta be on point. – This is gonna be hard as (beep). – I do wanna see something creative. I do wanna see something
that is very legible. This is your chance on
your own, without a team, to prove why you should
take the advantage. – The winner of this flash challenge will have the power to
assign all the human canvases in the elimination tattoo. – I need this, ’cause I don’t have to ask my team’s opinion. I can take shots where I want, how I want. – You have six hours and
your time… starts now. (dramatic music) – The great thing about this challenge is none of these artists have probably ever made art out of staples before. – Yup. – We’re looking for precision. This is gonna be not only
challenging artistically but it’s also gonna be strenuous. We’ve only seen these
people work in teams. This week, if someone’s not
creative, it’s gonna show. This week, if somebody
comes up with a great idea, they’re gonna shine by
themselves, they’re not helping out everybody else. – Gonna freehand this whole thing. I don’t have to worry about
anything but me today. I know what I wanna do,
I wanna do a landscape. I don’t need to map this thing out. I don’t need my team to win these things. My opinion, my choice,
that’s all that matters. (dramatic music) – I need to pick a design that
in itself shows precision. This is a moment where I wish I had at least one more teammate that could tell me like, stop
overthinking it, just go. What are you making, Angel? – A horse. – A horse? – Gallopy boy. I definitely feel like all
eyes are on me right now ’cause I received a pardon. As if there wasn’t enough pressure on me, now I have to redeem my elimination. I cannot slip again. – Four hours to go, everybody. Four hours left. (dramatic music) – Just gonna recreate
your line work out here, is that what you’re gonna do?
– Precision, right? – Yeah.
– I think some people missed that it wasn’t the shading challenge. I don’t think you can get more precise than staples that stand alone. I just wanna do a piece
today that is really simple but I know that I have been
as precise as I can be. – I legitimately think you’re probably making the smart play. – We’ll see, you know. – It’s hard to be precise with this tool. It’s like drawing but with
a huge, noisy machine gun. Pop, pop, pop, pop. – Last time doing this. – You’re not gonna do
it back at home, Jimmy? – No, Jerrel’s killin’ it. – I know. – He’s (beep) killin’ it. – Yup, he’s doin’ a (beep) landscape. I was counting on this flash challenge to get the team back to
being as close as we were. Jerrel is kind of going off into his own mind state right now and
just kinda doing him. That’s nice and precise. – Thanks. – Looking good. The only way that we
can take down the west at this point is to stay unified. (dramatic music) – This is your final hour. – Bob, it’s a happy birthday Corgi? (laughing) – Last week I got tattoo of the day, Angel got a pardon, we’re
still just as strong. The trio’s still here. – You’re my favorite person. (laughing) – I’m sure that the other teams are upset for having taken Angel
out and she comes back but when haven’t they
been upset with the west? It’s always been the west
versus everyone else. (dramatic music) – Five… four… three… two… one, that’s it, time is up, challenge is over. – How are your hands feeling? – Raw. – I feel like if anyone’s gonna take it, you know, it could be Jerrel. If we’re talkin’ like
precision, precision. – Can not win them all. – I can. (laughing)
