Felix Martin Interview- The 14 String Guitarist

Felix Martin – 14 String Guitarist Hi, my name is Felix Martin I’m a guitar
player from Venezuela I play this guitar. (It’s a) 14 String Guitar two guitars in one. This is the one I’m using the most
right now its kind of new but this is like the standard model right now because it’s comfortable it’s really light and it sounds good! so this is like my main guitar right now the other one is a jazz guitar so its really different. and its heavy. It’s not that heavy but like, you know this is more like standard. It’s not that Standard you know what I mean. but the other one is more special it’s like it’s just hard to build you know so… I mean it’s obviously an 8 and 6 String so it’s weird. I started playing Guitar when I was like 12 years old or 13 years old. with just a single Guitar like a Fender, six string Fender and
what I used to do a lot is to play with two guitars at the same time so I will have a regular six string
and then another regular six string like on a
table like just playing two at the same time it was like more comfortable for me and then what I did with is just
joined like two of them just one neck so it was like more comfortable that’s basically it, just two guitars in one. it’s like, my concept. I think when I was at Berklee I learned more like theory. I didn’t study guitar so obviously I would go with this guitar and play like chords Eight Fingers, so I mean Teachers they appreciated that
but they didn’t like, we didn’t fit so I didn’t study guitar and I just
started like music theory and audio and arranging for orchestras I just start like jamming with a
guitar for hours and I always record myself and when i
see the video back of what I was playing and I take like
those five seconds I like and I extend those
five seconds. you know what I mean? so that’s what I do, I record myself then I listen back. to it and then I transcribe it so I learned
it again and I expand that, record again and again and then put it on a computer or a piece of paper and that’s how it is started. Just like naturally with an instrument I don’t write music from my brain or from my music theory just playing, by playing! Keep listening to different music and different ideas and keep pushing your Art, if you’re a Musician or Artist or whatever, keep pushing for something different. Someday people will appreciate. Not at the beginning but someday they will appreciate!
