Butterfly Stitch


For the butterfly stitch, you’ll need two pieces of gimp that are both the same length. Start by taking both pieces and put them in a knot at one end. Next, I’ll make a loop with my green strand. Then I’ll wrap my orange strand around my green strand, and make a loop with my orange strand and put it through my green loop. Then I’ll tighten my green strand. I’ll pull the slack out of my orange loop. Then I’ll make a green loop, put it through the orange loop, and tighten the orange loop. Pull the slack out of the green loop. I’ll make an orange loop, put it through the green loop, and tighten the green strand. Pull the slack out of the orange loop. Make a green loop, put it through the orange loop and tighten the orange strand. Pull the slack out of the green loop, make and orange loop. Put it through the green loop and tighten the green strand. Pull the slack out of the orange loop, make a green loop, put it through the orange loop and tighten the orange strand. Pull the slack out of the green loop, make an orange loop, put it through the green loop and tighten the green strand. Take the slack out of the orange loop. Just keep repeating this until you’re ready to finish the lanyard. Now that I’m ready to finish, instead of making an orange loop and putting it through my green loop, I’m just going to take my orange strand and put that through the green loop. Then I’ll tighten the green strand and I will make a knot at this end. There you have the butterfly stitch.
