Beaded Christmas Ornament

Beaded Christmas Ornament

That Christmas feeling happens when the tree
goes up. So let’s get those ornaments ready to hang. We’ll cover the supply list—and the technique—so
you can make your own. The key to the technique is to work from the
center out, building in size with each round. So let’s start with the center ring. It’ll need to be large enough to fit around
the cap at the top of your ornament. Just thread a length of beads—check to make
sure it’s long enough—then tie a knot, and trim the end. The rest of the project will be strung on
a continuous length of jewelry thread, so cut a long piece and tie it to your ring. Now you’re ready to start the first round
of beading. So string on several beads. Then, thread back through a bead on the center
ring. This creates a drape. Repeat this process until you’ve worked
all the way around. To start the next round, thread through the
next closest drape, stopping here—at the point. Now you’re ready for round two. Notice that we’re adding a few extra beads
this time. This will create slightly larger drapes than
in the last round. You should make adjustments to accommodate
the size and shape of your ornament. Thread through the next closest drape—to
its point—like before. And continue beading around. Now that you know the basics, you can add
as many rounds as you like. On your last round, try incorporating some
new beads for a decorative wow factor. Then tie and trim your thread, and you’ve
got that something special your tree’s been missing. Try creating your own design or click for
instructions to make one just like this. Merry Christmas from Hobby Lobby!
