Basic Latte Art Tutorial – Part 7: How to pour a Tulip

Hi, this is Michael from Barista Next Door and in today’s video I am going to show you how to pour a Latte Art Tulip. as with all the other patterns we will loosen up the crema first and we can achieve that by moving the jug around the cup and gently pouring some milk in. once you have the feeling that you are ready to pour your pattern you can then lower your jug towards the cup and now we have 2 options: you can either use a rosetta as a base for the tulip or you can use a simple tulip base. For the base we will lower the jug and form a little milk stain which we will then push towards the back of the cup with the jug so we move the jug forward towards the back of the cup and this will push the milk stain towards the back and it will also push it outwards. Then we completely cut off the milk flow, raise the jug and move it back towards the middle of the cup and from there we can lower the jug again create another milk stain and then use the jug again to push it towards the base. From there on you can then add one stain after another to create more layers and always push them in and this will push the whole pattern outwards You can do that until your cup is full and once the cup is full you can raise the jug cut off the milk flow and simultaneously you can do your finishing move and move the jug towards the end of the cup and finish off all the layers you have created. This will give you a really nice tulip look . I hope this video will help you to learn the tulip pattern, If there are any other patterns you would like to learn about just let me know in the comment section below and I will make a video about them.
