Acrylic pour smartphone cover – UV resin fail!

Acrylic pour smartphone cover – UV resin fail!

Hello and welcome back. Today, I’m going to show you how you can personalize your smartphone cover. You will find all the material I use and a link to my book in the description below. Your smartphone cover is old or boring? No problem. We are going to change that. For this purpose we are doing an acrylic pouring on a self-adhesive foil to get our Acrylic Skin Stickers. I’m using a cheap self-adhesive transparent foil, which you normally use to cover school books. You can order it online. Tape the edges of the foil on a stiff ground. The shiny part should be on top, then gently roughen it with sandpaper. Put two coatings of acrylic color mixed with pouring medium as a base layer and let it dry. Now you can use it like a normal canvas and start to pour the paint. The basic techniques of acrylic pouring are shown in my tutorials. For this acrylic skin sticker I’ve used black acrylic paint mixed with pouring medium for the priming. Then I’m also using a black mixture as a first layer. The paint is still wet and I’m adding the other colors. For the swipe technique, I’m covering the other colors with a white paint mixture. I use a palette knife to swipe the white paint over the other colors. I’m using a string now to create more patterns. After drying clean the surface from silicon oil rests. My husband is not going to like this… because it’s his phone cover. But in a marriage you have to make sacrifices. At least it’s not pink. Now we come back to the decoration part. Cut the foil in any size you need. Remove the paper on the sticky side of the foil and apply it on the clean outer surface of your smartphone cover. Cut out the opening for the smartphone camera. You can use a varnish to seal it but today I’m experimenting with UV resin. I’m covering my design with a thin layer. Then I put it under UV light just some seconds. It gets very hot. Then repeat that step. After that, I’m putting some metallic pigment on the surface and cover it with resin again. I put it under UV light again. Be careful and turn it out after a few seconds. I’m bending it as long as it’s hot. With nail polish remover, you can clean the surface. That’s how the finished piece looks like. So here we are a few days later – I have to admit it didn’t work the whole cover cracked, I’ve totally ruined it. So, what can we decorate next… Let’s be nice this time and do a removable cover. Just put the foil between the smartphone and the transparent cover. You don’t have to stick it then. Now you’ve got a smartphone cover like nobody else. If you liked my video give it a thumbs up. I will provide you with more information on how to use the Acrylic Skin Stickers in the next videos. So please subscribe to my channel.
